Both in a historical perspective as from a mythological point of view, art and technology are inextricably linked. We believe that there is no art without technique, and no technique without art. It is significant that among the first prehistoric tools, dated almost 2 million years ago, we find some apparently "useless" polyhedrons and spheroids... When talking about technique, it is important not to forget the materials. They are a source of inspiration. Conversely, a new idea can lead to the need for the creation of new materials.
In the age of electronics, materials have not disappeared. The "digital revolution" must be understood as the simultaneous effect of convergence of methods of processing and dissemination of information, and a change of scale in the "wheels" of our machines. What – because being too tiny - disappears from our view does not become virtual. The future world will not be mostly dematerialized.
In saying that, here are more than 20 years, Ars Mathematica was not in the mainstream thinking. But people today are excited about 3D printers, digital objects, new materials. Not new topics for us, but this awareness is good news ! We invite the public to the PolyU and French May to discover the largest and most diverse collection of digital sculptures (collected since 1993), and new thermochromic paints.
After this event, very well welcomed, we can say a big thank to our partners and to our visitors and to everyone who came to discuss with us at various lectures and round tables during our presence in HK !

Ars Mathematica is an international organization based in Paris (France), founded in 1992 by Alexandre VITKINE and Christian LAVIGNE, pioneers of digital sculpture. In this area, the association organizes the INTERSCULPT biennial since 1993. It also promotes the meeting of artists, scientists and engineers, by organizing or contributing to thematic events (cultural heritage, biology, cosmology, etc.).

ARS MATHEMATICA thanks a lot :
The Hong Kong Polytechnic University: Prof. Chu-Ren HUANG, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, the Dr. Shuo YU (China Europa Centre), and their colleagues, the Pr. Ming-Xi TANG and the School of Design for their hospitality.
The Consulat de France in Hong Kong and Macao, and the team of the French May: Julien-Loïc GARIN, Anne DENIS-BLANCHARDON, Clémence LUGAGNE-DELPON, Isabelle SAVES.
Gilles VIGNER and Brice DUDOUT, co-founders of REPLIKEO.
Ivan FUNG, William, and Isis, from JIE Technology Company Limited.

Two clarifications:
1) this is not the uniform of the PolyU students
2) these young women are not (yet) members of Ars Mathematica

The "cosplay" exercise in style from Japan, is to dress like a manga character, or cinematic fiction.

The exhibition Ars Mathematica, conducted under the auspices of the French May, was also incorporated into a series of events of the PolyU, dedicated to the "Shaanxi Culture and Design Innovation", and the current masters of its art and crafts.
