Biographie / Biography R. Eric McMaster is a Graduate Student at Arizona State University, where he is currently pursuing his Master of Fine Arts degree in Sculpture. He has been working as a digital sculptor since spring of 2005 through Arizona State’s PRISM lab. Presently, he assists in the organization of PRISM’s Telesculpture exhibit. McMaster’s digital work focuses on traditional artistic roles and assigns these roles to virtual characters, questioning the role of traditional artistic practices in a digital age while playing with the relationship between the real and virtual being. Description Digital Sculptor (Self-Portrait) depicts a traditional stone carver with the face of the artist. The sculpture questions the roles of traditional artistic methods in a digital age, while also assigning character to a digital being through portraiture. Software used: Raindrop Geomagic, Rhino 3D, and Poser.
